Bohemian Ranch Wedding Inspiration

From Ryder Sloan EventsThe Free People dress was our first source of inspiration. The gauzy ethereal fabric with strands of beads and loose fit immediately set the wheels in motion for a Bohemian California ranch wedding shoot. Cow Track Ranch was the perfect host with sweeping green hills dotted with craggy rocks and the occasional California happy cow. CTR provided so many gorgeous light-filled backdrops throughout the day that our amazing photographer Dustin was literally chasing down the sun in the owner’s pick-up at the end of the day!

Courtney from the Floral Loft created a bouquet of deep greens and moody reds, an arch overlooking the horse pond covered in natural grasses, a centerpiece that pulled in the mint and marsala color palette and even a delicate little flower anklet for our bride.

Vintage china and flatware accented with stunning letterpress menus from Aerialist Press sat upon soft washed linens from La Tavola for the perfectly intimate barn-side sweetheart table. And we lit the inside of the old barn on property with tons of candles for a dreamy romantic “first dance” location for our newlyweds.

One of the benefits of hosting at CTR is that the owner’s daughter owns a vintage furniture rental company called Plum Couture Vintage. Upon arrival, she took me into her storage container and my eyes lit up. It was a vintage shopping experience like no other. So many gorgeous furniture pieces to choose from, but my eyes went directly to the brass candlestick holder collection and we immediately propped them on the sweetheart table for added elegance.

Our model Caroline’s natural beauty was enhanced by Shana from Fox&Doll who accented her loose waves with lovely deep red blooms. And we borrowed from Sweet&Spark’s immense collection of stunning vintage jewels to add just a touch of elegance to our otherwise relaxed, bohemian bride.

Perhaps the best part of shooting at the ranch was that it’s grounds were layered with wonderful finds that we used for spontaneous creative ideas. Upon arrival, we found a cow skull that was just begging for a floral crown, antlers that played off of the lovely letter-pressed invitations and fluffy linens, an old greenhouse that shot off incredible gleams of light and a haystack in the old barn that made for an excellent backdrop for our naked ombre berry topped cake from Sweet Lauren Cakes.
