Romantic Destination Wedding in Puerto Vallarta

With their mutual love of the ocean and Puerto Vallarta, and the Bride’s innate high fashion style, this couple’s summer destination wedding was sure to be a home run. Add in The Dazzling Details and Plush Catering, and we have a Mexican escape that dreams are made of. Amanda Crean’s pics are guaranteed to inspire a heavy dose of wanderlust that I plan on fully indulging in. See it all right here!

From Amanda Crean Photography…. Chelsea and Blaine’s wedding represented their shared love of the ocean, the bride’s love for high-fashion and the rustic charm of Puerto Vallarta! Despite a hurricane that loomed out along the coast in the days leading up to the wedding, the sun shone brightly on their wedding day. To offset the heat of late May, guests arrived to the venue – an old-world-hacienda-style villa – and sipped fresh pineapple basil and watermelon mint fruit waters to keep cool.

The bride and groom married beneath a gazebo (and the gazebo beneath a tent in case of rain!) while guests sat in Lucite chairs accented with sparkly gold pillows. Beyonce’s Crazy in Love played as the bride and groom kissed and led their guests from ceremony to cocktail hour.

Guests were invited to the family-style dinner table, they found their place cards set in sea urchin shells at each seat. The table, dressed in rose-gold sequin linens, held driftwood and succulents intermingled with floral arrangements that perfectly fit the bride’s vision of beautiful yet artistic – a blend of tropical maraca blooms, classic tulips, succulents and amaranth. Following dinner, guests regrouped on the dance floor – first surrounding the couple with the romantic glow of sparklers as they twirled in for their first dance – and then breaking it down to popular dance tunes. A “junk bar” – complete with flavored popcorns, jelly bellies, fruit tarts, spicy potato chips and more! – satisfied appetites after hours of dancing!

From the Bride… Blaine and I met living in Santa Monica (Los Angeles) and after being friendly acquaintances for several years, I gave in and went on a date with him (after he deleted my from Facebook for the 3rd time). We knew instantly after our first real date that we were meant to be together and moved in with each other about a month later. His career moved us to the Bay Area, but since we both spent much of our lives living by the ocean (San Diego, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara), we knew our wedding had to be on a beach setting. I actually wanted to elope – I had dreaded the idea of having a wedding without my dad there for a decade – but it was really important to Blaine that we get married in a more traditional setting. We compromised and decided on having a very small destination wedding. We instantly knew that that location would be Puerto Vallarta. Having been there for a destination wedding a couple years back we fell in love with the ambience of old town, the relaxed atmosphere and the welcoming people.

Leading up to our wedding there was an unexpected hurricane that threatened to crush our vision and outdoor venue. It was a couple weeks of pure panic but the morning before our wedding the skies cleared and everything was good to go! Blaine pretty much left the decor up to me – his only requests were that the food was outstanding and the bar was open. Fashion and design have always been a big part of my life (I work as a fashion, beauty and lifestyle publicist), so I knew my wedding decor had to knock it out of the park to meet the expectations of our guests and my own. I wanted something romantic and ethereal but with a unique modern vibe. I also wanted to keep the colors soft and neutral to let the natural beauty of the setting shine. The Dazzling Details worked with me to get a clear vision of what I wanted with specific design elements but kept the details a surprise. We were both blown away with everything. It far surpassed our dreams.
